Ilias Chrysovergis
Building intelligent spatial systems for the physical world.
I work at the intersection of hydroinformatics, AI, spatial computing, and systems architecture — bridging academic research and real product execution to turn complex real-world phenomena into understandable, actionable tools.
Systems that connect research to reality
Case studies in hydroinformatics, AI, spatial computing, and full-stack systems architecture.
Where inquiry meets engineering
Five intersecting domains, unified by the challenge of making complex physical systems understandable.
Hydroinformatics & Flood Simulation
Building digital twin systems for urban water infrastructure. Combining real-time sensor data, hydrological models, and geospatial visualization to create decision-support tools for flood risk management.
Spatial Computing & Extended Reality
Designing immersive interfaces for complex systems. Research spans VR/AR/MR interaction design, networked spatial computing, and the application of geometric algebra to efficient VR transformation handling.
AI & Machine Learning Systems
From reinforcement learning policy optimization to CNN-based surgical assessment, building ML systems that move beyond notebooks into production-grade deployment across diverse domains.
Digital Twins & IoT
Creating accurate virtual representations of physical systems for monitoring, prediction, and optimization. Integrating IoT sensor networks with simulation engines and intelligent visualization layers.

Engineer. Researcher. Founder.
I'm a software architect, researcher, and founder based in Greece, working at the intersection of hydroinformatics, AI, spatial computing, and systems engineering. My work bridges academic research and real product execution — turning complex physical phenomena into tools that people can actually use.
My path has taken me through Imperial College London, the National Technical University of Athens, and research labs across Europe, while simultaneously co-founding Metatopia — Greece's first metaverse studio — and building products across XR, creative tech, and decision-support systems.
I'm currently a PhD candidate at the University of Thessaly, investigating metaverse architectures for wireless communications, and a lecturer at Mediterranean College (University of Derby). I believe the most impactful technology is built by people who understand both the science and the systems engineering required to ship it.
Building something that matters?
Whether you're exploring a research collaboration, evaluating a technical partnership, or need architectural leadership for a complex system — I'd like to hear about it.
